Security agencies released post‑encounter evidence that conclusively proves the Pahalgam terrorists were Pakistani nationals, reported India Today.

They killed three Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives in Operation Mahadev on 28 July  near Dachigam in Srinagar. Investigators recovered laminated voter ID slips issued by Pakistan’s Election Commission from Suleman Shah and Abu Hamza “Afghani,” tracing their serial numbers to electoral rolls in Lahore (NA‑125) and Gujranwala (NA‑79).

A micro‑SD card salvaged from a damaged satellite phone contained biometric records from Pakistan’s NADRA database—including fingerprints, facial templates, and family‑tree details—confirming their Pakistani citizenship with registered addresses in Changa Manga (Kasur District) and Koiyan village near Rawalakot in Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir.

The terrorists also carried wrappers of Candyland and Chocomax chocolates—Karachi‑manufactured brands—which further cemented the Pakistani link.

Ballistic matching tied the 7.62×39 mm shell casings from the 22 April Baisaran Valley massacre to the AK‑103 rifles seized from the slain men. Intelligence agencies also traced their infiltration across the LoC near Gurez in May 2022 and tracked them moving into a dhok near Hill Park on 21 April, 2025.

The report identified Suleman Shah as the mastermind and main shooter, Abu Hamza “Afghani” as the second gunman, and Yasir alias Jibran as the third shooter.

At the funeral for Habib Tahir—another Pahalgam attacker killed in the same operation—in PoK, a Lashkar‑e‑Taiba commander Rizwan Hanif arrived with armed men despite being barred by the family; the ensuing confrontation forced them to leave and exposed Pakistan’s ongoing terror links.
