Pawan Kalyan, Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief and famous Telugu actor, has announced his candidacy for the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly election from the Pithapuram constituency, as per a report by Hindustan Times.
In the upcoming election, JSP has formed an alliance with Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh and with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the national level.
The seat-sharing agreement allocates two Lok Sabha seats and 21 assembly seats to JSP.
This alliance was announced after a joint statement was issued by the three parties, expressing confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The statement highlighted the historical ties between TDP and BJP and the support extended by JSP in the 2014 elections.
Pithapuram constituency, where Pawan Kalyan will be contesting, is located in Kakinada district and is currently represented by a member of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP).
Pawan Kalyan, who is the younger brother of actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi, ventured into politics in 2008 as the youth wing president of Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam Party.
In 2014, he founded JSP but did not contest in the elections that year.
The party contested in the 2019 elections, winning only one seat, with Pawan Kalyan himself losing in both constituencies he contested from.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
