Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (24 April) assured the nation that perpetrators of the terror attack in Pahalgam, in which at least 26 people were killed, will be punished.
Before beginning his speech at the public gathering in Madhubani, Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon attendees to observe a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack.
The Prime Minister said that countrymen are shocked by the Pahalgam terror attack.
"I want to say this in very clear words: those terrorists who carried out this attack, and those who conspired it, will face a punishment far beyond their imagination. They will be punished. The time has come to wipe out even the last remaining ground held by terrorists. The willpower of 140 crore Indians will now crush the backbone of those who sponsor terror," PM Modi said in Hindi.
In what was clearly a message to the global community, PM Modi switched to English and said, "Friends, today, from the soil of Bihar, I say to the whole world: India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the earth. India’s spirit will never be broken by terrorism. Terrorism will not go unpunished. Every effort will be made to ensure that justice is done. The entire nation stands united in this resolve. Everyone who believes in humanity is with us. I thank the people and leaders of various countries who have stood with us in this time."
