The Telangana Government is prioritising the strengthening of the rural road network, with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announcing a Rs 1,000 crore allocation for the initiative.
During a review meeting in Hyderabad on Friday (3 January), the Chief Minister directed officials to begin work promptly and instructed the Finance Department to release Rs 150 crore monthly from January to June to fund the project.
The Chief Minister emphasised constructing BT (Bituminous) roads connecting all villages, including newly established gram panchayats, to their respective mandal headquarters.
“Complaints on the absence of roads to villages should be a thing of the past,” said Reddy.
He also asked officials to design road widths with future needs in mind.
The review meeting also addressed the progress of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and national highway projects.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to expedite land acquisition for the RRR project.
Officials were asked take steps to complete land acquisition pertaining to the Nagpur-Vijayawada corridor which has been pending in some districts of the State before Sankranti.
Pending issues with the Forest Department were also discussed, with Reddy directing Forest and R&B departments to coordinate effectively.
Senior officers will be nominated as nodal officers to streamline land acquisition and resolve inter-departmental issues, ensuring smooth project execution.
