In a major infrastructural push, the Telangana government has announced the construction of the Greenfield Radial Road, named Ratan Tata Road, which will connect the Tata Interchange at Raviryal on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to the Regional Ring Road (RRR) at Amangal, The Hindu reported

The Rs 4,030 crore project is set to improve connectivity and facilitate urban development in the region, stated an official release.

With 41.5 km length, the expressway will cut through six mandals of Maheshwaram, Ibrahimpatnam, Kandukur, Yacharam, Kadthal, and Amangal, passing through 14 villages in Rangareddy district.

The work will be executed in two phases, with Phase I for 19.2 km from ORR (Raviryal, Tata Interchange) to Meerkhanpet at Rs 1,665 crore and Phase II for 22.3 km from Meerkhanpet to RRR at Amangal at Rs 2,365 crore.

Assigned to Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), the project is proposed as a 100-metre-wide access-controlled expressway.

The expressway will feature an initial six-lane main carriageway (3+3 lanes) with a provision for expanding to an eight-lane expressway in the future.

Besides, a 20 metre wide central median has been reserved for the future establishment of a metro or railway corridor in harmony with long-term urban mobility planning.

For enabling sustainable and well-integrated transport planning, the expressway will also include service roads, a greenbelt, dedicated cycle tracks, footpaths, and a utility corridor on either side.

To begin the task of working on the project, HMDA and HGCL have invited bids from agencies and tender documents are being floated on the Telangana e-procurement portal and HMDA website from 28 February onwards.

The technical bids are scheduled to be opened on 21 March, one step further in making this mega development a reality.
