Congress national general secretary KC Venugopal announced the second list of party candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday (12 March) with 43 names. Of them, three are sons of three former Chief Ministers.

Rajasthan former CM Ashok Gehlot's son Vaibhav Gehlot got a ticket from Jalore, Madhya Pradesh former CM Kamal Nath's son Nakul Nath got a ticket from Chhindwara and Assam former CM Tarun Gogoi's son Gaurav Gogoi got a ticket from Jorhat.

While Nakul Nath and Gaurav Gogoi won the 2019 elections from Chhindwara and Kaliabor respectively, Vaibhav Gehlot lost to Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in Jodhpur.

With the delimitation in Assam, Gaurav Gogoi cannot contest from Kaliabor again as the seat he has been representing since 2014 is non-existent now. He has got ticket from Jorhat where BJP won in 2014 and 2019.

The path will be easier for Nakul Nath because Chhindwara is Kamal Nath's bastion, where he won five consecutive times since 1998. In the 2019 elections, Chhindwara was the only seat in MP where Congress could win.

Coming to Vaibhav Gehlot, his opponent will be BJP's Lumbaram Choudhary in Jalore. The seat has been with the BJP since 2004. However, Choudhary is a lesser-known face, giving Vaibhav a hope for Lok Sabha debut.
