'We Are Very Happy With What Bihar Got': JD(U) Satisfied With Budget Allocation Despite Being Denied Special Status

In accordance with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his party Janata Dal (United)’s demands, Bihar has been allocated major financial and industrial support in the Union budget even though it's demands for special status were not conceded.

JD(U) advisor and chief national spokesperson K C Tyagi expressed satisfaction with the budgetary provisions, stating, "We are very happy with what Bihar got" as per a report by The Indian Express.

He dismissed concerns over the Centre not granting special status to the state, emphasising the importance of development.

"Let the Opposition cry foul over it. The idea is to ensure the development of Bihar. An annual package of Rs 1 lakh crore has made a good start for us," he stated.

He further stated, “When a TMC leader calls it a ‘Bihari budget’, it means special care is taken of Bihar. What a special category status would have done is create employment, discourage migration, and address poverty."

Tyagi also added, "All the projects, especially making Bihar a part of the Kolkata-Amritsar economic zone with its headquarters in Gaya, announced today would generate employment.”

The Purvodaya project, which dwells on growth of the eastern region of the country, is among major schemes that is expected to boost development in the state.

Tyagi continued, “We got approval for an airport and a medical college, locations for which will be decided by the state government. Besides, we also got Patna-Purnia, Bodhgaya-Vaishali and Bhagalpur-Buxar highway projects.”

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also stated that in Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor, there will be an industrial node at Gaya, “which will serve as a good model for developing ancient centre of cultural importance to future centres of modern economy”.
