✨ India's Semiconductor Push
Dear Reader,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today, laid the foundation stone of maiden fabrication facility at Dholera and two assembly units at Sanand and Morigaon.
Tata Electronics, in partnership with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp, leads the Dholera project with a hefty investment, aiming for first chip production by end of 2026.
Today's groundbreaking ceremony holds three significant implications.
First, international involvement from Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand highlights the growing momentum of India's Semiconductor Mission, supported by a hefty subsidy scheme launched in December 2021.
Second, the timing of this development is noteworthy. India stands to capitalise on a growing trend among global conglomerates to diversify their manufacturing bases away from China, leveraging geopolitical changes, and enhancing supply chain resilience.
Third, this move could spur further investment in India's electronics sector, highlighted by a potential collaboration with Israel’s Tower Semiconductor, positioning India as a key technology hub.
