It's Kannada Media Versus This Congress MP Over 'Pakistan Zindabad'
Dear Reader,
Kannada media looks angry with Congress MP Syed Nasser Hussain. No, it's not because his supporters are alleged to have shouted 'Pakistan zindabad'. It's because of how Hussain reacted when the media questioned him about it.
The sequence of events was this:
Syed Nasser Hussain is declared as the winner of an election for a seat in the Rajya Sabha.
In the celebration that follows, his supporters shout a slogan which the BJP says was 'Pakistan zindabad'. Hussain says it was "Nasser saab zindabad".
The media goes on to ask him about the slogans. It is here that Hussain dismisses them with apparent contempt.
This prompted the Kannada electronic media to take on Hussain as one. By the next day, multiple videos of Kannada journalists delivering scathing tirades on Hussain were doing the rounds on social media.
You don't have to be a Kannada speaker to know who said what. We have summarised the best of those videos for you here in this piece.
