Bengaluru: Five Year Wait For Decongested Roads To End As BBMP To Implement Smart Parking System By December 2019

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is all set to implement the smart parking system, which after implemention will rake in Rs 397.46 crore in the next decade, the Deccan Herald reports.

The smart parking plan was conceptualised during an action plan to regulate and decongest the city roads has been under the wraps for five years. However, the plan is now expected to be implemented by December 2019, and bring 85 roads into its fold.

The BBMP classified the roads into premium, standard and smaller streets. Brigade road, Avenue road and Race Course road are among the 14 premium roads. The second group has SP Road, Kasturba road, Palace Road and Dhanavantri road and the third category includes roads at Chickpet, Balapet and Bannappa park.

The BBMP recieved a concessionaire to finalise the contract within the week and start implementing the project. The government also passed an order on 7 March 2019 which awarding the contract to Building Control Solution India Pvt Ltd, which would provide Rs 31.60 crore per year subject to annual increment of around 5 per cent.
