In a positive development, a Naxal terrorist in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh has given up arms as a promise to his sister made on Raksha Bandhan, reports Bhaskar.
As per the report, the 22-year-old Malla Tamo, was inducted by his uncle into the Naxal activities eight years ago. He joined platoon number 13 of the Naxals there. At the moment, he carried a bounty of eight lakh rupees on his head.
The report further adds that when Malla came back home, his sister told him that she will tie the rakhi only when he promised to give up his arms and surrender himself.
According to Naidunia report, Linge, Tamo’s sister, had already informed the SP on the phone before coming that Tamo has returned and wants to join the mainstream on her request.
She took her brother to nearby police station for surrendering and tied the rakhi there itself.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
