Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal has directed officials to install WiFi facilities in at least 2,000 stations in India, at the earliest possible. This will enhance connectivity for travellers. For any inconvenience faced, a single helpline number for all non-security complaints will be set up mostly by the end of this month, he added.
The Hindu reported that Point of Sale (PoS) machines will be distributed across all trains by 31 March, so that catering staff can act on complaints that concern overcharging. The information has also been given through an official release.
In order to bring about transparency, Goyal has directed that the reservation chart be made available in the public domain as soon as possible.
The Hindu quoted him as saying, “The possibility of booking tickets even after scheduled departure of trains or after boarding the train should be explored if seats are available.”
