The Managing Director of Facebook India Ajit Mohan while appearing before the Standing Committee for Information Technology admitted that he had worked as a consultant with the Congress party in Kerala, News18 has reported.
Mohan was also involved with the Planning Commission and Ministry of Urban Development during the UPA government.
During the course of the interview Mohan said that he has now withdrawn all the articles he had written against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government.
This meeting with the Facebook India MD came after IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad wrote to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg alleging that there has been a concerted effort by Facebook to delete pages which subscribe to the right-of-centre ideology.
During the course of the meeting BJP MPs cited appointments by Facebook to claim that it favours the left of centre ideology. This included citing the International Fact Checking Network Committee and the alleged usage of derogatory language by its chief Kanchan Kaur against the BJP government.
The BJP MPs also cited the appointment of Pratik Sinha as a member of the fact-checking team.
The MPs also questioned Mohan over Facebook staff members creating groups like Facebook For Muslims and posts on Jai Shri Ram and Hindu gods and goddesses being branded as Hate posts.
