A domestic help, 28-year-old Vishnu Kumar Vishwakarma, who was employed at the Railways Minister Piyush Goyal’s house in Mumbai, has been placed in judicial custody after being suspected of stealing confidential information from the minister’s personal computer and also taking away silverware and other items from the house, reports India Today.

The theft of the items is believed to have taken place between 16 to 18 September, with police locating Vishwakarma to Delhi after an FIR was registered against him. The investigation is presently ongoing to find out whether he also stole classified data from Goyal’s computer and also took possession of some documents.

Upon analysing activity on his phone, police found that Vishwakarma had communicated with several unidentified individuals via email, and had also deleted some data from his device.

The phone has been handed over to the cyber cell of Mumbai Police, who are now trying to retrieve the deleted data and find the identities of those e-mailed by Vishwakarma.
