The directorate of income tax systems has announced to all of its field units in a notice that a brand new e-filing portal will be launched on 7 June. Accordingly, the portal will not be providing services for the first six days of the next month.
Officers have therefore been asked to ensure that no compliance dates are fixed during the aforementioned six-day period. Moreover, the officials have been asked to ensure that hearings and compliances are scheduled post 10 June so that taxpayers get the required time in order to adjust to the new portal.
The notice mentioned, “In preparation for the transition to the new system, the existing e-filing portal will not be available to both taxpayers as well as department officers for a period of six days from 1 June to 6 June.”
“It is clarified that ITBA and CPC system will continue to function for assessment related functions. All orders, notices issued during the period will be visible to taxpayers after the new portal goes live on 7 June,” it added according to Economic Times.
The e-filing portal is used by taxpayers to file their income tax returns and also see other details. On the other hand, officers use it for issuing notices, show-cause notices, summons, questionnaires, receiving responses to different e-proceedings and also for communicating final orders in penalties, appeals, exemptions and also assessment.
