In a concerning development, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists reportedly held meetings with representatives from the Taliban and sought the latter’s support in their ‘India-centric operations’.

The discussions took place in the third week of August at Kandahar and news agency ANI was reportedly informed of the same by senior officials from the intelligence agencies.

Forecasting further movement of terrorists across the Line of Control (LoC), the intelligence agencies have put the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on alert.

“We have ordered intelligence agencies to keep watch on social media. On August 24, we received input regarding the movement of two terrorists from Pakistan who are planning a grenade attack in Srinagar,” an official was quoted by the wire agency.

The officer added that all concerned agencies have been alerted for coordination and every state has been directed to keep their anti-terror units on high alert. Moreover, they have been asked to carry out the necessary security drills as well.

Recently, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat mentioned that the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan was certainly anticipated but it was expected to take place a couple of months down the line.

Meanwhile, the JeM has expressed that the Taliban’s victory in Afghanistan will inspire the ‘mujahideen’ to carry on with their ‘struggle for Islam’, Hindustan Times reports.
