The family members of 21-year-old girl Nikita Tomar who was shot dead in Ballabhgarh have claimed that not just the main accused Tauseef but his mother was also pressurising Nikita to convert to Islam, Times of India has reported.
The family members of Nikita claim that Tauseef was repeatedly calling her in the last few weeks and pressurising her to convert to Islam and marry him despite refusals. The family adds that Nikita had also received several calls from Tauseef's mother, who too was pressurising her to convert.
The family has also said that in 2018 after Tauseef had kidnapped Nikita, it was forced to withdraw the case as the accused's family wields considerable political influence in the area.
The family member adds that even after the matter ended the accused kept calling her he to demand that she convert. As per reports, Nikita had stopped taking his calls and proceeded to block his number.
He subsequently tried to kidnap Nikita and when the attempt failed, he shot her dead.
Nikita had also filed a complaint against him in September.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
