India’s first semi-high speed train- Vande Bharat Express has been a victim of vandalism for quite a few times before it was rolled out of Integral Coach Factory in Chennai.
Today (20 February) stones were pelted on it and one window glass of the train was damaged as a result.
This was the third time when stones were pelted on Vande Bharat Express since its inception - the first time being 20 December last year and the second time being on 2 February.
As per a report by India Today, stones were pelted on Vande Bharat Express near Tundla in Uttar Pradesh as the train was going towards Kanpur from New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the train on 15 February.
However, Congress President Rahul Gandhi later took a jibe at the Vande Bharat Express and said "Modi Ji, I think Make in India needs a serious rethink. Most people feel it has failed. I assure you we in the Congress are thinking very deeply about how it will be done.”
In response, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that it is a shame that Rahul Gandhi chose to attack the "hard work and ingenuity" of Indian engineers, technicians, and labourers.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
