An RSS worker was hacked to death on Sunday by two motorcycle-borne men in full public view on a busy stretch less than a kilometre away from MG Road in the heart of Bangalore. The 35-year-old worker, Rudresh R, was mandal president of the Shivajinagar shakha of the RSS and secretary of the BJP Shivajinagar. He was attacked while returning home on his bike after participating in a 'patha sanchalana' in the vicinity of RBANMS Grounds.
Rudresh was first knocked down from his bike and then attacked by the duo with a lethal weapon, the police said. According to an eye-witness, he was immediately put into an autorickshaw rushed to Bowring Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
A real estate agent, Rudresh was also into milk business. He was a resident of Milkman's Colony in Shivajinagar.
This is not an isolated case as a large number of RSS and BJP activists have been attacked and killed recently in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. About eight days ago, another RSS worker Dilip was attacked at Muthyalnagar under Yeshwanthpur police station limits. In a similar incident, a Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) worker was hacked to death in Kerala’s Kannur district by a CPI-M activist. Tamil Nadu, too, has seen a number of targeted killing of BJP/RSS cadre.
While the identity of the attackers is not known in this case, those associated with left-wing parties have been accused in most such cases.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
