This fall for the futures expiring on Tuesday (22 April) was a result of the global coronavirus pandemic which has harshly hit demand for the commodity. The May contract for WTI crude largely bore the brunt of its delivery dates conceding with the US wide lockdown rendering many buyers unable to take delivery.
As per the report, only industries which can take a delivery are airlines or refineries but their storage is filled with oil.
The June WTI contract too was hit as a result and is currently trading at $20.43 per barrel. It will expire on 19 May. The international crude oil benchmark - Brent, fell by 8.9 per cent to trade at $25.58 per barrel.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
