In a saddening incident, a 21-year-old youth named Akshaypreet Singh from Amritsar was shot dead in the United States (US) by a man who was trying to steal from his store in Mississippi, reports The Hindu.
Singh charged against the man after spotting him trying to pocket certain articles from his store in a CCTV camera. He objected to the attempt to steal items from his store, which led to the beginning of a fight and ended with the man pulling out a pistol and shooting Singh dead.
As per the investigators, Singh had suffered three fatal gunshots, which led to him succumbing to the grave injuries on the spot given there was no other individual present in the store at the time of the incident.
Singh hailed from the Mattewal village of Amritsar and had left India to manage the stores owned by his father Bakshish Singh in the US three years ago.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
