Congress workers have been caught assaulting supporters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi near a rally of Congress party candidate Urmila Matondkar in Mumbai.

As per a video posted by ANI, a youth was seen chanting pro-Modi slogans some distance away from Urmila Matondkar’s rally while she was on stage.

He was subsequently joined by a group of other people as they chanted “Modi Modi”, while beings some distance away from the Congress rally.

The Congress supporters though decided to plunge into the matter and some of them started to chant “Chowkidar Chor Hai” in response. Things didn’t stop here and some of the Congress workers then began moving towards the BJP supporters.

One of the well-built Congress supporters then began assaulting a Modi supporter while he desperately tried to scurry away to safety. He was then joined by other Congress supporters who continued the assault.

The matter was slowly quelled but Congress workers including Lok Sabha candidate Urmila Matondkar kept chanting slogans.

Matondkar who earlier called Hinduism the most violent religion before taking an u-turn has after this episode claimed a threat to her life and demanded police protection. She has also filed a police complaint in the matter.
