Prime Minister Narendra Modi has warned fellow BJP functionaries against arrogance and misbehaviour in light of Indore MLA Akash Vijayvargiya’s assault, reports The Hindu.
Speaking at the party's parliamentary meet on Tuesday (2 July), Modi made an oblique reference to Akash Vijayvargiya, son of BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya who was recently caught on camera assaulting corporation officials using a bat.
“Whoever it may be, whoever's son he may be...such arrogance and misbehaviour cannot be tolerated”, said Prime Minister Modi.
Akash Vijayargiya was released on a bail last week after he assaulted an on-duty government official with a cricket bat. A video capturing the incident went viral.
Prime Minister Modi also objected to Kailash Vijayvargiya's defence of his son's actions, by saying that arrogance would spoil the image of the party built by the senior leaders for generations.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
