Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is planning on introducing an online diploma course based on the principles of Dr B R Ambedkar and his contributions to the field of socio-economic development of the country. This will be done in partnership with Dr Ambedkar International Centre (DAIC).
M Jagadesh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of JNU proposed the idea when a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was being signed between JNU and DAIC on November 30, Friday. DAIC falls under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The V-C said that the proposal has been pitched to Union Minister Thaawarchand Gehlot.
Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment stated as saying, “The parties recognised benefits to be derived from increased collaboration, cooperation and interaction for further promotion and understanding of high performance in research training and organising various programmes including conferences, seminars, symposia and lecture series,” India Today reported.
Once approved, the course will focus on social equality and women empowerment in the lens of Dr B R Ambedkar. The duration of the course is six months and a certificate will be offered at the completion.
The two aforementioned institutes plan to focus on structuring courses and syllabus that aims to bring studies on socio-economic development of the country in light with principles of renowned reformists in the nation.
