Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Karnataka on 10 August to launch a series of major metro and urban connectivity projects in Bengaluru worth more than Rs 22,000 crore.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will flag off the Yellow Line of the Bangalore Metro and also experience a metro ride from RV Road (Ragigudda) station to Electronic City metro station.
This line is part of the much-awaited Phase-2 expansion of Namma Metro.
Later in the day, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various urban connectivity projects in the city.
He will also address a public gathering in Bengaluru, outlining the government’s infrastructure development agenda.
The Yellow Line, stretching from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra, covers a route length of over 19 km with 16 stations.
Built at a cost of approximately Rs 7,160 crore, it will connect key residential, industrial, and IT hubs in the southern part of the city.
With its commissioning, the operational metro network in Bengaluru will expand to over 96 km, significantly enhancing public transport capacity.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Bangalore Metro Phase-3 project.
This project, estimated at over Rs 15,610 crore, will add more than 44 km of track and 31 elevated stations. It aims to cater to the city’s growing transportation demands, linking residential neighborhoods with commercial, industrial, and educational zones.
These projects are expected to improve last-mile connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and provide a modern, efficient transit system for Bengaluru’s rapidly growing population.
