The Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday (27 May) said it had launched a planned strike on a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) launchpad just 3 km from the Line of Control (LoC), in response to cross-border shelling from Pakistan during the night of 9 and 10 May, ANI reported.

Addressing a press conference, BSF IG Jammu Frontier Shashank Anand stated that the Pakistani post had opened fire on Indian positions, a move for which the BSF was already prepared. "As a result of this preparedness, we inflicted heavy damage on several Pakistani posts during the cross-border firing. We did not suffer any losses ourselves," he said.

He added that Pakistan began unprovoked firing along the international border on 9 May, shortly after India’s retaliatory operation the previous night. "On the night of May 8, when we carried out this operation, the enemy's morale in that area was visibly shaken," he said.

He added, "On the night of 9 and 10 May, the BSF carried out a deliberate and planned attack on a Lashkar-e-Taiba launchpad in Looni, which is located in Pakistan just 3 kilometres from the international border."

BSF DIG Virender Dutta said intelligence indicated that 18-20 militants were stationed in Looni, planning to infiltrate under the cover of firing. "We executed a highly coordinated and well-planned operation in two phases to inflict maximum casualties. We achieved that goal, and Looni was completely destroyed," he said.

Anand highlighted the role of women personnel in frontline combat. "BSF's women personnel fought on forward duty posts during Operation Sindoor. Our brave women personnel, Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari commanded a forward post, Constable Manjit Kaur, Constable Malkit Kaur, Constable Jyoti, Constable Sampa and Constable Swapna, and others fought on forward posts against Pakistan during this operation," he said.
