Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri Begins Two-Day Nepal Visit To Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday (17 August) for a two-day official visit focused on advancing India-Nepal cooperation.

Invited by his Nepalese counterpart Amrit Bahadur Rai, Misri landed at Tribhuvan International Airport around 9 am, The Hindu reported.

During the visit, he met President Ramchandra Paudel and Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli, and paoid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba.

Later in the day, he will hold formal talks with Foreign Secretary Rai at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singhdurbar.

Misri will also engage with Nepal’s key political leaders, including Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda.”

According to Nepal’s foreign ministry, the agenda will cover connectivity, cross-border infrastructure, and development cooperation, along with regional and global issues of shared interest.

The visit reflects continuing efforts by New Delhi and Kathmandu to deepen diplomatic engagement and maintain momentum in bilateral relations.
