As part of India's efforts to modernise its railway system, the Indian Railways is set to introduce 10 new Vande Bharat Express trains on 15 September.

The Hubli-Pune Vande Bharat Express, one of the 10 new trains to be launched, is expected to cut down travel time between Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Vande Bharat Express trains, known for their state-of-the-art facilities and high-speed capabilities, have been hailed as game-changing for Indian rail travel, offering passengers an enhanced travel experience.

The Vande Bharat trains on Nagpur-Secunderabad (578 km) and Pune-Hubballi (558 km) routes will further increase the number of Vande Bharat trains in Maharashtra to eight, enhancing the state’s high-speed connectivity.

At present, six Vande Bharat trains are operational under the Central Railway, running on routes including CSMT-Shirdi, CSMT-Solapur, and Nagpur-Indore.

Additional key routes in the new rollout include Tatanagar-Patna, Varanasi-Deoghar, Ranchi-Godda, and Durg-Visakhapatnam, Tatanagar-Berhampur (Odisha), Rourkela-Howrah, Howrah-Gaya and Agra-Varanasi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to virtually flag off the 10 new trains on 15 September.

Earlier on 31 August, PM Modi had virtually flagged off three Vande Bharat trains on three routes: Meerut—Lucknow, Madurai—Bengaluru, and Chennai—Nagercoil. These trains were launched to boost connectivity in Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The improved version of Vande Bharat trains presently running over the Indian Railway network have enhanced safety features, faster acceleration, better ride index and passenger amenities, such as automatic plug doors, reclining ergonomic seats, comfortable seating with revolving seats in executive class, mobile charging sockets for every seat and is fitted with KAVACH train collision avoidance system.
