Indore Metro Rail Project is one step closer to commercial operation after a two-day inspection by Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS), Janak Kumar Garg, that ended on Tuesday (25 March), Times of India reported.
The Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) is now waiting for the final nod by CMRS, which will decide when the passenger service can formally start.
The launch has been delayed several times, with the initial schedule for commercial operations in late 2024 later being changed to March 2025.
The inspection was on the super priority corridor, a 5.90 kilometre section between Gandhi Nagar station and station number three of the Super Corridor.
The CMRS team over Monday and Tuesday conducted a thorough inspection of the construction quality, signaling systems, telecom infrastructure and other critical safety systems to ensure adherence to set safety standards of operations.
All important features of the metro's operation such as train speed, braking systems, and power supply were also thoroughly examined. They also verified the speed, brake system, power supply, and other key features of the operation.
With the inspection done, MPMRCL officials are hopeful of a positive result. But they have to await the final CMRS report, which is likely to take few weeks, before it can launch commercial services.
