PM Modi To Inaugurate Projects Worth Over 77,000 Crore In Gujarat, Focus On Rail, Power, Ports And Urban Development

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on 26 and 27 May to unveil and launch an expansive portfolio of energy, roads, water supply, tourism, and port development projects across Bhuj and Gandhinagar worth over Rs 77,000 crore, according to a PMO press release.

On 26 May, PM Modi will first arrive in Dahod where he will dedicate a Locomotive Manufacturing Plant to the nation and flag off an Electric Locomotive. He will then lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects worth Rs 24,000 crore, followed by a public address.

In Bhuj later that afternoon, the Prime Minister will launch multiple high-value projects exceeding Rs 53,400 crore, particularly in power and infrastructure.

According to the Gujarat CMO, key power initiatives include the inauguration of the 220/66 kV Babarzar Substation, 132/66 kV Kansumra Substation in Jamnagar, and solar PV projects totalling over 250 MW across Morbi, Kutch, and Jamnagar.

Important road upgrades include the Layja-Bada-Mapar-Modkuba-Suthari stretch and the Dhordo Tent City access road.

In the port sector, the Kandla Port will witness the launch of expanded infrastructure such as Oil Jetty No. 8, transit storage godowns, new port staff residential quarters, and a Centre of Excellence in Gandhidham.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for strategic future projects, including the 800 kV HVDC line from the Khavda Renewable Energy Zone, transmission systems to support 7 GW of additional renewable energy, and new 400/220 kV substations in Kutch and Ahmedabad.

Additional developments include the 800 MW Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant at Ukai, a green hydrogen production facility, several Road Over Bridges, and six-lane upgrades in the Kandla region.

Notably, the development of Hyperloop Pod Technology at Kandla Port and enhanced tourism infrastructure at Dholavira are also on the cards.

On 27 May in Gandhinagar, the PM will launch Urban Development Year 2025, inaugurate more than 22,000 PMAY units, and release Rs 3,300 crore to urban local bodies, marking 20 years of Gujarat’s urban transformation efforts.
