The UGC-NET June 2024 Examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on 18 June has been canceled by the Ministry of Education.

This comes after the University Grants Commission (UGC) received certain inputs from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C).

"These inputs prima-facie indicate that the integrity of the aforesaid examination may have been compromised," said the press release on exam cancelation.

A fresh examination shall be conducted, the Education Ministry said without revealing the details of the re-examination. Information for it shall be shared separately, it said.

Simultaneously, the matter is being handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a thorough investigation of the alleged paper leak.

"Government is committed to ensure the sanctity of examinations and protect the interest of students," the Education Ministry said, while the Opposition is targeting the government over its failure.

This comes after irregularities were reported in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), which too is conducted by NTA for admission to medical colleges.

The Supreme Court has said that it expects "timely action from NTA" and has scheduled the hearing of the petitions seeking the cancelation of the NEET exam for 8 July.

Meanwhile, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has demanded the cancelation of the NEET exam citing the cancelation of UGC-NET exam.
