Electric vehicle giant Tesla will launch its first showroom in India on Tuesday (15 July 2025) in Mumbai, marking a significant step towards starting sales in the country, news agency Reuters reported .
The Mumbai showroom, located in India's financial capital, will be dubbed as an “experience centre” where potential customers can view Tesla’s range and interact with its technology.
The move comes as Tesla accelerates its plans to tap into the growing Indian EV market.
According to a March report by Reuters, the Elon Musk-led company signed a lease agreement earlier this year to open its first showroom in Mumbai, confirming long-anticipated plans to establish a physical presence in India.
As part of its India strategy, Tesla has also increased recruitment efforts and previously scouted potential showroom sites in both Mumbai and New Delhi.
The development signals Tesla’s broader commitment to the Indian market after years of negotiations and policy discussions with the government.
The Mumbai showroom is expected to be the first of several across India as the company expands its footprint.
Tesla’s entry could also boost India’s EV ecosystem and push other global and domestic players to accelerate their offerings and infrastructure.
