YS Avinash Reddy, a cousin of Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and the Lok Sabha MP from Kadapa has been asked by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to appear before it today (17 April).
This comes after his father, YS Bhaskar Reddy, a cousin of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR) was arrested by the CBI yesterday (16 April). Bhaskar has been sent to judicial custody till 29 April and is presently lodged at the Chanchalaguda prison in Hyderabad.
Bhaskar received charges of conspiracy, murder, and tampering with evidence under Indian Penal Code sections 120B, 302, and 201, respectively.
The body of Vivekananda, was discovered with stab wounds in a pool of blood on 15 March, 2019, at his home in Pulivendula.
While the CBI has alleged that Bhaskar and Avinash had murdered Vivekananda because he was their political rival in Kadapa, they both have denied any involvement in the murder.
They say that the CBI had not examined any other angles like property dispute etc. Some Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders have said that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is behind the murder.
YSRCP cadres protested against the CBI at various places in Kadapa and condemned Bhaskar's arrest.
