China Is Intensifying Pressure On Bhutan To Cede Doklam And Sakteng Regions Bordering India
Dear Reader
The Chinese government is slowly gobbling up more territory on the northern borders of Bhutan. They've even set up entirely new villages and bussed in hundreds of Tibetans to 'settle' the places.
The idea is to use these villages as a bargaining chip of sorts to eventually grab more territory in the Doklam area (which is on Bhutan's western borders and to the northeast of India's chicken neck region).
The most recent development is that China has now presented a package deal, a quid pro quo and offered to settle Doklam in return for vacating the other areas it now occupies along the Bhutanese border.
There are two angles to this now
1. China at Doklam is a direct threat of India's chicken neck region, threatening the entire North East.
2. And what India is doing now to counter the Chinese 'package' being offered to Bhutan?
