At an event in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, a speech given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was translated in real-time through the use of artificial intelligence technology.

Modi expressed that the technology would enable him to connect with a larger audience. "This is a first for me. Typically, I communicate in Hindi and AI will be responsible for translating it into Tamil," he stated while addressing the crowd at the Kashi Tamil Sangamam.

"This is a new beginning and hopefully, it makes it easier for me to reach you," the Prime Minister said according to NDTV.

The discourse was interpreted using an AI-powered translation instrument known as 'Bhashini'. This AI-driven language translation mechanism allows individuals to converse in their native language when interacting with speakers of different Indian languages.

The Prime Minister described the relationship between Tamil Nadu and Varanasi as "special". He stated, "Traveling from Tamil Nadu to Kashi is akin to moving from one abode of Mahadev to another."

"Rest assured, the residents of Kashi will spare no effort in ensuring your comfort. As you depart, you will carry not only the blessings of Baba Vishwanath, but also the flavor, culture, and memories of Kashi," stated PM Modi.

The Kashi Tamil Sangamam, which lasts for a month, is set to see around 1,400 dignitaries from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in attendance.

In addition to cultural exchange initiatives, the event will feature an exhibit that highlights the diverse range of art, music, handloom, handicrafts, food, and other unique offerings from Tamil Nadu and Varanasi.
