A BJP worker in West Bengal’s Ketugram was stabbed to death by alleged Trinamool workers while he was chanting Jai Shri Ram and erecting his party’s flags, Telegraph has reported.
The incident is said to have happened on Thursday (30 May) ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony. As per the report, Trinamool goons confronted the BJP worker (identified as Sushil Mandal) and asked him to both stop erecting the party flags and chanting Jai Shri Ram.
As per the widow of Mandal, he was targeted for being an active BJP worker and has filed a police complaint against three Trinamool party members.
“The three Trinamul workers in our village had been threatening my husband since the results were declared and asking him to stop working for the BJP”, the widow was quoted as saying.
On the same day, state Chief Minster Mamata Banerjee suffered a meltdown when locals on Bashirhat began chanting Jai Shri Ram in front of her convoy. At least 10 individuals have been arrested in connection with the matter.
