According to a new survey, while working professionals in Mumbai expect a substantial 20 per cent increase in pay this year, those in Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru expect an increment of jsut 10 per cent, reports Business Standard (BS).
Professionals in Chennai and Pune are also expecting a 20 per cent hike in their salaries in 2019.
The survey was undertaken by jobs portal Shine.com and was conducted across professionals from various industries in Mumbai, Delhi- NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai.
"It is interesting to note the variance in employee expectations across different metro cities and across sectors. While employee sentiments are high across most sectors, it is a given that not all organisations will be able to meet these expectations," said Zairus Master CEO of Shine.com.
In India’s financial capital almost 37 per cent of those surveyed said that they expect an increment of above 20 per cent, while in Pune and Chennai, the figures were 36 and 38 per cent, respectively.
Bengaluru Pays The Big Bucks
However, as per 2018 data collected by LinkedIn, Bengaluru has clinched the number one spot as the city with the highest paid salaries in India. The second and third spots were taken by Mumbai and Delhi-NCR respectively. The highest paying sectors were hardware & networking, software & IT services and the consumer goods industry.
