On the night of 24 March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation and announced that India would enter a total lockdown for a period of 21 days. He made his rationale clear -- the rise in coronavirus cases worldwide was steep and social distancing way the best way forward. He also spoke about the possibility of going back 21 years if these 21 days were not met with enthusiasm as a nation.
