The Delhi Police on Saturday (18 May) arrested Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's personal secretary Bibhav Kumar for assaulting Aam Aadmi Party AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Monday.

This comes after Maliwal filed a written complaint against Kumar alleging assault at the CM's residence and her medical report revealed bruises on her left leg and right cheek below her right eye.

While AAP itself accepted Bibhav Kumar's "misbehaviour" with Maliwal earlier, it is now alleging that the allegations are BJP's conspiracy as it blackmailed the former DCW chief over the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) case.

Advocate Karan Sharma representing Bibhav Kumar said, "We have not received any information from the police yet. We have sent them an e-mail that we will cooperate in the investigation."

Earlier, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh promised to take action against Kumar but then Kumar was seen with Singh and Kejriwal at the Lucknow airport.

By holding press conferences yesterday and today, AAP Minister Atishi claimed that Maliwal was made to hatch the conspiracy by the BJP and was used as a pawn.

National Commission for Women (NCW) has also taken suo moto congnisance of the case and fixed the hearing in the case today after pasting notice outside Kumar's residence.
